Undiscovered Country

Inspired by color-infrared aerial photographs, and deep-sea bioluminescence imagery, Undiscovered Country is an experimental photo series that calls attention to the impact of climate change on landforms in the American Southwest. In these inverted forests, no humans are present. In previous decades, natural environments – seen in full color – came to stand for a beautiful world apart, which we as humans might identify with and understand had we the patience or empathy. My series uses digitally collaged landscapes as an allegory for unpredictable weather patterns and environmental apocalypse. Images of heavily saturated lands portray the natural world as a fabricated realm on the brink of destruction and upheaval.
