Radiation Zone

On the side of CSUF Visual Arts Building D facing the main campus walkway, I designed and installed a hazard poster warning of radiation exposure and a red “No Trespassing” sign. I also placed dry ice in cups of water behind the ventilation tube that extends from the roof to the ground to simulate radioactive steam leaking out.

 This will make the space appear to be the site of radioactive research, which will match with the institutional setting of the CSUF Art department. In the past several universities have secretly conducted nuclear weapons research for the federal government. My installation will make those who see it think about what might be going on behind the walls of Cal State Fullerton.

Materials Used:

Adhesive poster paper (1) – sized 12 in x 18 in

                 No Trespassing sign – sized 9 in x 12 in

                 Two cups of water
